Riley County Hay Barn
An open-frame hay storage barn engineered for a working cattle operation north of Manhattan, with clear-span bays and 14-foot eaves.
The build
About this project.
Built for a multi-generation cattle operation that needed weather-tight hay storage with the room to drive a tractor through. We engineered a clear-span open-frame structure with 14-foot eaves and a 4:12 roof pitch sized for Riley County snow loads. Galvanized roof and side panels with red trim to match the existing operation, and a partial wind wall on the prevailing weather side. Slab-on-grade with thickened edges, poured by the owner's preferred concrete crew working from our spec.
